James Villa Holidays travel insurance is arranged by Holiday Extras and underwritten by Allianz Worldwide Partners (AWP P&C SA) who are both authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Type of Insurance and eligibility

This is a holiday insurance policy which is only available to Republic of Ireland residents aged 85 or under at the time of issue. Clients aged 86 yrs and over please contact Holiday Extras on 0800 781 4086 and quote reference AD897 for a quotation. Please note all trips must start and finish within the Republic of Ireland and that this policy cannot be arranged for a trip you have already started.

Important existing medical conditions

These apply to the Cancellation or Curtailment charges, Emergency Medical and Associated Expenses and Personal Accident sections of the policy.

Our policy excludes all existing medical conditions (except those listed as automatically excepted conditions within the policy wording) unless they are declared and agreed in writing by Holiday Extras, our medical screening provider. Anyone insured on this policy requiring cover should contact them if any of the following applies:

  1. Has anybody listed on the policy ever been diagnosed with or treated for any cancerous, respiratory, heart or circulatory conditions, problems with blood flow, including strokes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol?
  2. Has anybody listed on the policy been prescribed medication, or received treatment or attended a medical practitioner's surgery in the last 2 years?
  3. Has anybody listed on the policy ever been diagnosed with or treated for any psychological conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, or psychiatric condition such as eating disorders, drug or alcohol abuse or mental instability?
  4. Has anybody listed on the policy attended a hospital or clinic as an outpatient or inpatient in the last two years?
  5. Has anybody listed on the policy been currently put on a waiting list for treatment or investigation?
  6. Has anybody listed on the policy been given a terminal prognosis?

If necessary, please telephone them on 0800 781 4086 to declare any existing medical conditions. If there are any changes in health between now and the date of travel, you may need to declare these in the event that you intend to continue with your trip.

Other significant policy exclusions and limitations

There are certain exclusions and limitations within the policy which you should be aware, please find below details of some significant areas; for further exclusions and limits, please refer to your policy wording.

If you are aware that the health of a close relative who is not travelling is likely to deteriorate and may prevent you from taking your trip.

If you are travelling against medical advice or intending to obtain medical treatments abroad.

If you are participating in winter or hazardous sports please make sure you have purchased the appropriate additional cover before you travel.

Personal possessions are not covered if they are left unattended. Valuables are excluded if left in a motor vehicle.

The 24 hour emergency medical service must be contacted if a member of the travelling party is hospitalised, requires repatriation or where medical fees are likely to exceed £250. The policy offers automatic cover for a number of sports & recreational activities at no additional premium. For a list of these activities please refer to your policy wording.

Cancellation Rights

If your cover does not meet your requirements, you may cancel cover within 14 days of receiving your insurance document/certificate and return all your documents for a refund of your premium, provided you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim. Making a claim

To claim, please visit the website www.azgatravelclaims.com. This will lead you to our online claims notification service where claim forms can be obtained immediately via email or by downloading directly from the site.

You should fill in the form and send it to Allianz Global Assistancee with all the information and documents we ask for.
You will need to obtain some information about your claim while you are away. Please refer to the policy document for details.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

For your added protection, the insurer is covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if the insurer cannot meet its obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.

Insurance cover provides protection for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit.
