Attraction parksRancho Texas is a spectacular animal park situated just outside of Puerto del Carmen, off the main road. The park is a great day out for families featuring a wide selection of animals such as mammals, birds and reptiles. There are also swimming pools with slides as well as canoeing and pony rides. Animal performances are also held throughout the year including birds of prey and the popular sea lions. After a busy day there are a couple of restaurants at the park including the Wildhorse Saloon and the fast food restaurant serving a wide range of food.
Other excursionsWhy not take a boat ride on a water taxi from Puerto Calero's harbour to the bustling neighbouring resort of Puerto del Carmen. Spend the day walking along the seafront prominade or relaxing on one of the many beaches on offer. The water taxis run daily and at regular times throughout the day on a return basis.
National parksThe Timanfaya National Park is a must see when holidaying on the island. Declared a national park back in 1968, this site was once host to more than 100 volcanoes. The restaurant in the park serves traditional Canarian food that’s cooked using a cast-iron grill placed over a large hole in the ground. There is also the option to take a camel ride across the volcanic landscape.
