Santa Maria Polo Club
One of Europe’s most prestigious polo venues, the Santa Maria Polo Club is located just 20 minutes from San Roque Club and hosts regular tournaments throughout the year. Its facilities both for polo and for entertaining are second to none, with upmarket dining and shopping facilities, bars and a nightclub. The main international event of the year, El Torneo Internacional, takes place in August and attracts polo enthusiasts from all over the world.
Selwo Aventura, Estepona
A superb zoological park, Selwo Aventura takes visitors on a journey through the wilds of Africa, where lions, giraffes, hippos, rhinos, hyenas, cheetahs and antelopes are just some of the animals you’ll see. There are also Meet the Keeper sessions, educational talks, spectacular hanging bridges to walk across, dromedary rides, high jumping, zipwires and archery to keep you busy. The park is open approximately nine months of the year with a break in the winter and is around 30 minutes’ drive from San Roque Club.
With the border just a few minutes’ drive from San Roque Club, popping over to visit Gibraltar during your stay couldn’t be easier. Taking the cable car to the top of the rock, it’s easy to see the territory’s strategic appeal, with its incomparable views both across to Africa and along the Spanish coast where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. Watch out for the famous Gibraltar monkeys, visit the stunning caves, one of which is now used as an auditorium for concerts, go dolphin and whale watching, take a stroll along the high street with its very British shops and watch the changing of the guard ceremony outside the old convent, now the official residence of the Governor.
A 45 minute drive along the coast is the exclusive Puerto Banus, playground to Europe’s rich and famous. At its heart is the stunning marina that plays host to some of the world’s most spectacular superyachts, surrounded by designer boutiques, trendy bars and chic restaurants. The nightlife here is buzzing, with live music and nightclubs rocking until the early hours.
Ocean Club Marbella
At the very core of the Costa del Sol’s sizzling party scene, Ocean Club Marbella is the place to see and be seen. With the ultimate in contemporary all-white sun beds and a magnificent salt water infinity pool taking centre stage, the club oozes luxury and beachside chic. Famed for its mouthwatering cocktails and champagne spray parties, there’s also a highly regarded restaurant serving a range of exquisite seafood and pan-European delicacies, a VIP zone, massage area, designer boutique and beauty salon. The club occupies a 9,000 square metre spot just next to the marina in the centre of Puerto Banus.
