Orahovac occupies one of the deepest and most easterly positions in famous Kotor Bay shoreline whilst the houses here enjoy the most spectacular open panorama before them. Hikers will be sure to feel at home with many trails to hunt out and a one day trip to the elevated Church of St. Ðorde perched on the rock above the village dating from the Medieval Ages is a must for any historian. Orahovac translates to ‘Walnut’ in English and like the tree, this historic fishing village has many characteristics that plays to its advantage. The sheltered cove backed by steep mountain gradient protects lower levels from the elements and its unique geographical position between UNESCO Kotor and the Old Town of Perast are both on the must see list for any traveller. Still, the village itself has much to see with evidence of its maritime past and fishing legacy still on display.
