Empty bench at the cliff edge, positioned to enjoy the views at Akamas Peninsula

Away from the mainstream tourist towns lies the tranquil and traditional village of Argaka. Real-life rural heaven, this is the perfect place to wind down and enjoy a slower pace of life. Snuggled into the hills, take relaxing strolls through the luscious landscape that surrounds you. Unsurprisingly walking is the most popular pastime of the area, and you'll be handsomely rewarded for your efforts! Breathtaking views and Byzantine churches are just waiting to be uncovered. Trace the footsteps of myth and legend and enjoy the dramatic, diverse landscape – a treat for the eyes and the camera lens! Winding streets lead to a handful of tavernas and shops, where you can get a real flavour for the local community, if not the delicious dishes of Kleftiko, Moussaka and Sheftalia (to name a few).

Secluded beaches are only a short drive away and offer up some seriously dramatic natural beauty. For the more adventurous, the Akamas Peninsula is the most westerly point of Cyprus and just a 20 minute drive away. One of the least inhabited places on the island, it's a paradise of natural beauty, dense forest and rugged coastline. Experienced walkers, mountain hikers and off-road drivers will have a blast exploring the dirt tracks and footpaths. For the rest of us, make the most of the simple pleasures of laying back on sizzling shingle sands, with nothing but a towel, a pair of sunglasses and a good book. After a long day of relaxing, your villa is the perfect spot to watch the sky show off in beautiful golden hues. Argaka is famed for its magnificent sunsets, and it's not hard to see why!

Exploring the UNESCO Tomb of the Kings in Paphos

A city sitting on the southwest coast of the island, Paphos is renowned as the birthplace of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Old-meets-new here, and the lower Kato Paphos is teeming with ancient ruins and wonderful historical sites. Full of fascinating things to see and surrounded by areas of breathtaking beauty, you'll soon discover why visitors fall in love with this magical marvel. The richly romantic harbour is lined by a string of tavernas and cafés, a perfect place to while away a lazy afternoon or enjoy a balmy evening beverage. Long coastal paths are ideal for morning or evening strolls. The soothing sound of waves crashing against the shoreline will soon caress you into a state of holiday heaven. Our villas sit on the outskirts of Paphos, just a stone's throw away from the beach – an idyllic set-up for a great mix of leisure and pleasure.

No trip to Paphos would be complete without a bit of history hunting! All sorts of ancient ruins lay in waiting, from UNESCO's Tomb of the Kings to Medieval castles, fortresses and archaeological parks. The underground tombs were carved out of solid rock and the final resting place of high ranking officials and aristocracy. Set in a desert like landscape, the only sounds you'll likely hear are the nearby waves crashing against the rocks. Cameras at the ready – this is an adventure to remember!
