Transformed in recent years from a small and traditional fishing village, Hurghada has managed to retain its natural and historic charm. One of the world’s top diving and snorkeling destinations, the unique underwater gardens offshore are some of the finest in the world, and are ideal for many varieties of rare fish and coral reefs. Away from the sands, head downtown to Old Hurghada and capture traditional Egyptian life around the mosques and lively bazaars. This is the ultimate place for souvenir hunting and boasts a mouth-watering range of international and local restaurants. Or bask in the modern town, sprinkled with chilled out shisha cafes, bars, restaurants and classy boutiques. But if you're looking for a livelier holiday, there's a whole host of vivacious bars and vibrant nightclubs to keep you up till late.

Atmospheric evenings in Hurghada
Hurghada is well known for its fabulous nightlife, with an array of lively restaurants, buzzing bars, and energetic nightclubs which stay open until late each night of the week. Within the resort towns, you will also find a great selection of places for a spot of night-time entertainment after a day of relaxation in the sun. El Gouna plays host to a bustling nightlife scene within sophisticated bars located in the Marina, to lively late-night venues in Downtown. At Makadi Beach and Spa Resort, you will find hotel-hosted nightly entertainment with live music and some great onsite bars and disco, so no matter where you stay, there’s great evening entertainment if you want it.
Retail therapy in Hurghada
Hurghada is the place for a spot of holiday souvenir shopping, with a whole host of malls, souvenir shops, boutiques and bazaars. Here you will find a wonderful variety of goods ranging from traditional handmade Bedouin linens and handbags to Italian designer names. Traditional galabeya, like kaftan, is a good buy, being competitively priced and of good quality, with matching accessories in the form of purses, handbags and jewelry. A real cosmopolitan area, you can also enjoy art galleries, handmade wood and glass items and antique shops. Export quality Egyptian cotton bed linen is also a good buy, with many custom made, one off designs available. Leather goods are also well made and well priced.
On the beach in Hurghada
The Red Sea coast is famous for its beautiful beaches. With a coastline spanning over 50km, it offers many splendid beaches, from relaxing sandy beaches like those found along Makadi Bay, to fun-packed activity hubs like Zeytouna beach in El Gouna. Various water sports can be enjoyed on many of the beaches, and the reefs and numerous shipwrecks are breathtaking for those experienced divers wishing to take advantage of the crystal clear water. You could also take a catamaran with its underwater glass panels or a submarine to enjoy the plentiful fish and sea life in their natural environment without taking a dip yourself!
Fun-packed days in Hurghada
Hurghada is perfect whether you like to spend active days on the water, or firmly on dry land. No matter whereabouts along the coast you stay, you will find a huge array of sporting activities to try. Many beaches are home to Aqua Centres offering a variety of water sports and boat excursions, whilst you can also find world-class golf facilities, tennis and provisions for gym & fitness. However for families, Hurghada is truly ideal, with a host of kids clubs which can be found within the resort hotels, crazy golf, and even a brand new and superb water park! Hurghada is the place to ensure that you will never run out of things to do on your holiday!

- Excursions to Luxor offer a unique experience to soak up the historic atmosphere. The Valley of the Kings is home to some of the better known Pharaohs’ tombs, while the tombs of many of the Pharaohs’ wives and children can be found in the nearby Valley of the Queens. The scale and beauty is unrivalled. It’s a long day with a very early start, but it is more than worth the effort.
- Boat trips through the beautiful lagoon network of El Gouna can be taken from Downtown; you might even find your own beach! Whether you prefer secluded sunbathing or beach bars with live music, you’re sure to find the perfect place.
- Hurghada town offers a taste of the hustle and bustle of typical Egyptian life. Despite being a thriving tourist resort, Hurghada still maintains its unique charm with traditional souks and roadside vendors serving homemade snacks.
- There are many dive centres along the Red Sea to receive training and guidance in order to enjoy your own unique snorkelling experience in the crystal clear waters.
- Makadi Water World is a fun-filled place to be found within Makadi Bay. Featuring 50 different slides for both kids and adults, including a 19 meters free-fall slide, tunnel slides, mini rainbow and elephant slides just to name a few; it’s Egypt’s largest and the best outing for the entire family.
