Ghammar 2 2hrs Time from airport
This quaint village, close to Ghasri, offers a traditional island experience. Gozo’s national shrine is close by, and you’ll find fantastic views from Ghammar hill. The hill stands about 188 metres above sea level and apart from its natural beauty, it is often visited for the life-size marble statues of ‘The Way of the Cross’, designed by a well known local artist, Alfred Camilleri Cauchi and sculpted in Italy. Also very close by is Ghasri valley, which winds its way through between the village of Zebbug and Giordan Hill and flows into the sea between high impressive cliffs. Remember your purse as many interesting souvenirs can be purchased here. The most popular shrine on Gozo lies within the parameters of Gharb. Ta Pinu is an architectural masterpiece and is the most important pilgrimage site with a vast and remarkable collection of ex-voto offerings.
