Murcia 1 30mins Time from airport
The fabulous city of Murcia is the capital of the Costa Calida. The city offers a huge amount of interesting places to visit as the history of the city goes back 800 years where it was originally founded as part of Cordoba. One of the famous visiting points is the Cathedral de Santa Maria, which is located at the plaza del Cardinal Belluga. Finished in the 15th century, the cathedral is the most impressive monument of Murcia and you can spot it from miles away because of its 96-metre tower which houses no less than 25 bells. The city's 18th century convent church of Santa Ana is also an attractive sight, partly because the Sisters of the Convent's Closed Order bake cakes and sell them to the public through a revolving hatch. Other places of interest include the magnificent 19th century casino and the Salzillo Museum which houses an impressive collection of life-sized polychrome sculptures. Furthermore you should consider having a stop at some of the many bars, cafes and restaurants as you wander through the city, as there is a monumental building on every corner. If you head towards the coast, visit the huge salt water lagoon at Mar Menor as well as many other inviting golden beaches not far away.
